Our Bachelor of Catering Technology and Culinary Arts(BCTCA)  program is a three-year undergraduate degree. This program association with Osmania University (OU) has been Accredited by the NAAC A+ Grade University and a part of the Telangana State Higher Education Council(TSCHE). This course also includes industrial training as part of second-year curriculum.

This course is designed for individuals who want to be employed in star hotels, renowned restaurants, airlines, cruise lines and abroad. It paves your way for a successful career in the hospitality industry.

WHAT IS BCTCA AT CGIHM?

BCTCA means Bachelor of Catering Technology and Culinary Arts. It is a 3-year undergraduate degree program offered by Culinary Guru Institute of Hotel Management (CGIHM), Hyderabad, affiliated with Osmania University.


IS THIS BCTCA COURSE RECOGNIZED?

Yes. The BCTCA degree is recognized by Osmania University and graduates receive a valid degree accepted for jobs and higher studies in India and abroad.

WHO CAN APPLY FOR BCTCA?

Any student who has completed 10+2 (Intermediate or equivalent) from a recognized board (Science, Commerce, or Arts) can apply.

IS THERE AN ENTRANCE EXAM?

No separate entrance exam is required. Admission is based on academic merit, counseling, and interview.

HOW LONG IS THE BCTCA PROGRAM?

The BCTCA program is a 3-year undergraduate degree course with both theory and practical training.


WHAT SUBJECTS WILL I STUDY DURING THE BCTCA COURSE?

The BCTCA (Bachelor of Catering Technology & Culinary Arts) at CGIHM is a 3-year undergraduate degree affiliated with Osmania University.
It is divided into 6 semesters, each combining theory classes and practical lab training, plus a compulsory industrial internship.

Semester I

Semester IV – Industrial Training

  • A 16-week compulsory Industrial Training is undertaken in reputed hotels, restaurants, or resorts, in India or abroad (based on placement opportunities).

  • Students gain real-world exposure in core departments such as Food Production, Bakery, Food & Beverage Service, Front Office, and Housekeeping.

  • This internship is university-assessed and forms a mandatory core component of the BCTCA degree.

Summary

  • Year 1: Foundations in cooking, bakery, F&B service, hotel operations, hygiene.

  • Year 2: Indian gastronomy, pastry, food science, management + 16-week Industrial Training.

  • Year 3: Advanced culinary, international cuisines, food management, artistic presentations.

By the end, you’ll be industry-ready with strong theoretical knowledge, practical expertise, and professional internship experience.

IS INDUSTRIAL TRAINING COMPULSORY?

Yes. Industrial Training is a compulsory part of the BCTCA program. In Semester IV, students must complete 16 weeks (4 months) of training in reputed hotels, resorts, or restaurants. This training may be undertaken in India or abroad, depending on placement opportunities. It provides practical exposure in Food Production, Bakery, F&B Service, Front Office, and Housekeeping, and is university-assessed as part of the degree.

WHAT IS THE FEE FOR BCTCA?

The BCTCA program fee at CGIHM is ₹65,000 per semester. Since the degree has six semesters, the total fee is ₹3,90,000 (excluding hostel, exam, and other university charges).
Scholarships are available for meritorious students, and limited financial assistance is offered to deserving candidates.

CAN FEES BE PAID IN INSTALLMENTS?

Yes. CGIHM provides installment plans for fee payments. Details are shared during counseling.

WHAT DOCUMENTS ARE REQUIRED FOR ADMISSION?

  • The recommended age limit for admission to the BCTCA program is 17–25 years at the time of enrollment.
📌 However, applicants above 25 years of age may still be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on their background, motivation, and genuine interest in pursuing a culinary career. Such candidates are advised to discuss their eligibility with the admissions counselor before applying.

WHAT IS THE AGE LIMIT FOR ADMISSION?

  • To apply for the BCTCA program at CGIHM, students must submit the following documents:
  • 10th & 12th Marksheets/Certificates

  • Transfer Certificate (TC)

  • ID Proof (Aadhar / Passport)

  • Passport-size Photographs

📌 Additional Requirement:
Students from states other than Andhra Pradesh and Telangana must also submit an Equivalency Certificate issued by the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE).
